Support Local Ministries: Young Life Golf-A-Thon

Nacogdoches Young Life presents
2008 Golf-a-thon!

Crown Colony Country Club
Lufkin, Texas
April 28, 2008

Your participation will help support Young Life in Nacogdoches. Our program provides positive activities and caring adult relationships for local teenagers. For more information about Young Life go to http://www.younglife.org/

Golf Marathons are a proven way to raise significant support for non-profit organizations. Here’s how it works:
You play a Marathon (100 holes) or a mini Marathon (50 holes) by playing a 3-ball scramble with yourself. Hit 3 drives, go to your best drive, you hit 3 shots while your caddie retrieves your other 2 balls, and so on for each shot. Your score will be amazing! It is a fun format that will really fine-tune your game. We ask that you sponsor yourself for the first $100 to motivate your sponsor list. Then, you secure other sponsors by asking friends, family, business associates. Be creative. The funds you raise will stay right here in Nacogdoches to support Young Life, it’s programs with teenagers and summer camp for the kids involved.

If you'd rather participate in a more traditional golf tournament...

Four-man scramble; $125 per player, $400 per team (tax-receipt provided) Includes lunch, shirt
Prizes:
· 1st, 2nd, 3rd place;
· closest to the pin
· long drive
· hole-in-one

Please let David know if you are interested.

Prayer Requests - Week of 3/9/2008

Dacia will be seeing Dr. Randle today about what to do next about her neck/ arm symptoms.

Candace A., a friend of Jody B's, is in St. Luke's in Houston. She went in for a scheduled gall bladder removal and the doctors found stage 4 cirrhosis of the liver. Due to other heart problems, she now needs a liver and heart transplant, but Jody said she won't be placed on a transplant list until her liver actually fails. Candace is only 26 and has been married for about a year. Please remember her and her family.

Please pray for safe traveling for many students and families during this spring break.

REMEMBER TO VOTE TODAY

"In a world that might say one vote doesn't matter..., it does matter because each person is of infinite worth and value to God... Your vote is a declaration of importance as a person and a citizen."

Prayer Requests - Week of 3/2/2008

PRAISE - Shelly's brother Cole (SFA student) has been making good life decisions. Pray that he will continue to do so.

PRAISE - Adam's last drill was this past weekend!

April's co-worker recently had a miscarriage.

April's uncle Ben continues to have health problems. Please pray for him and his wife, Audrey, as they go through this. Also, please pray for the family. Uncle Ben and Aunt Audrey are almost like second parents to most of their nieces and nephews and like second grandparents to the great nieces and nephews.

Joe's sister is still in the hospital. Her baby is due on April 12.

Lots of mission trips going on or preparing to leave: SFA students going to KS and OR; FBC group going to Jamaica; our friends, the Snowdens, are going to Guatamala.

Gregg's grandmother is in the hospital with pneumonia.

Dacia had surgery several weeks ago on her neck and had 2 weeks of relief from her symptoms. However, she has started having the same symptoms again and now is scheduled for an MRI this week and is seeing a neurologist. Please pray for her and the rest of the family as well as the doctors.

Flag Football Was a Big Hit

It was pretty warm and humid, but at least the sun was shining and we were able to have a good game. Some of us were huffing and puffing trying to keep up and a few were full of energy doing cartwheels and cheers. We didn't really keep up with the score too well, but I know for sure that everyone had a great time. We will definitely do it again.

The kids had fun running around during the game, but they all got a little hot and tired towards the end. After the game, we had a nice shaded picnic by the Ag Pond and the kids fed the ducks.

Thank the Lord for another great social.

The next big social will be in April at David and April's Home. Between now and then, we may go to lunch or something so there isn't too much time in between socials.
