Christmas Party 2009

After a seven month break, the blog is back. I sincerely apologize for slacking on posting. I am going to do my best to not only post regularly, but to also recruit others to post as well. I do have some pictures from events between Flag Football 2009 and this Christmas Party. I will post them on the Shutterfly site soon and link to them in a different post.

Christmas 2009
We had a very good turnout on Friday night at the Hays' home for our annual Christmas party. Thanks so much to Courtney and Lance for hosting a festive gathering. The dessert competition was a big hit and may have to become an annual tradition as well. Erin's chocolate truffles won the appearance prize while Marcy's cheesecake won for best taste. When it comes down to it, we all won because we had an excuse to try 15 desserts (at least until it catches up to us). Thanks to everyone who competed and made the contest so much fun. The competition was tough is both categories.

Merry Christmas!!!

Flag Football - Spring 2009

We had a great flag football game last Saturday. Bobby showed us how it's done by making one handed catches and dodging defenders after catches. I think everyone had a great time and will probably be a little sore fore a few days.

Special thanks to Hannah for taking pictures and to Luke for bringing us what we needed to have a Chicken Biscuit and water break.

We plan to have a basketball game during the summer and another flag football game in the fall.

Bowling Social 2009

I hope everyone had a great time at the bowling social last weekend. I apologize for taking this long to post pictures.

Bowling was a lot of fun even though everyone's main goal was to break 100. Of course, Kent was the pro out of the group - his scores were closer to 200. After a couple of games we decided we could all grab a quick burger and then pick up the kiddos.

We had a fun social...

Super Bowl 2009

Even though the announcers and commentators all said that this Super Bowl topped last years', I think most of us would have to disagree. The team most of us were going for ended up losing in the final seconds. Despite the game, we had a great social.

ESPN may have reported that the highlight of the night was Santonio Holmes' game winning catch or maybe James Harrison's 100 yard touchdown run after intercepting Kurt Warner. However, I believe most of us would have to say it was the awesome chicken wings that the Wyatt's brought.

I'm not sure what was more fun, watching the 3D commercials or seeing everyone with their 3D glasses.

Please check out the new Shutterfly Share Site I created that includes pictures from this social and all of the socials from 2008. Here's the link: fbcymc.shutterfly.com

Any visitor can view all the pictures. However, if you sign up with Shutterfly (it's free), you can download the pictures.

Axe 'Em Jacks - SFA Basketball

A few families attended the Cram the Coliseum game last Saturday and had a good time watching the Lumberjacks beat Sam Houston. It was almost like an unofficial social. After the game April and I talked about maybe doing it again. So, I am posting the remaining home game schedules for both the Lumberjacks and Ladyjacks for everyone to look over. We can talk about it further at a future Sunday School class. Maybe the 31st for the Kids Day double header - however, this happens to be the day before an official social - the Super Bowl Party.

Side notes: I will post some pictures that Marcy and April took in a few days (my camera battery died). We were the crazy people who let our kids roll down the hill in front of the Coliseum after the game. You should have seen all the kids walking by wanting to do it too.

Tim Tebow and his Testimony to the World

Whether you are a Florida fan or a fan of another college team, you have to admire the faith of Tim Tebow. Knowing that the whole world was watching, he chose to use his "global stage" to testify to the world about Jesus Christ by writing John 3:16 on his eye black.
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
So, what affect did this have on the world? Take a look at the link below.

Google constantly tracks popular search topics. In today's world Google is often the first source of information when something comes up. Google Trends basically ranks the latest top search topics and gives a pretty accurate reading of what people are interested in at any given time.

On 1/8/2009, the day of the National Championship where Tim Tebow proudly wore John 3:16 on his eye black, the top search on the Internet was John 3 16. It is pretty amazing that one 21 year old college football star was able to reach millions of people who were curious enough to go to a computer to search it out. I hope the interest that he sparked in so many people will result in some life changing decisions to follow our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Side note: Look at the search topics below John 3 16. On January 8th, John 3 16 was a more popular search than an earthquake, Oprah, and Obama. I just thought that was interesting to know.
